The Fletcher Moss Soccer School is the foundation of the club. Taking in children aged from 3 to 11 years of age. The football training is carried out on Mersey Bank playing fields on a Saturday morning. There are two sessions scheduled from 9.30 until 10.30 are for years 3, 4 & 5 and Nursery, Reception, Years 1 & 2 train from 11.00 to 12.00noon.
The training sessions follow a natural pathway of development for the children and is intended to nurture their skills and abilities. Each week the soccer school will stage a different skills session, practising; Passing , Shooting, Dribbling, ABC’s (agility, balance & coordination). Probably the most important skill taught is the skill of listening.
Season 2015/16 saw more players being signed to professional clubs. Stoke City signed 6 players, two from the under 13’s squad and one from the 12’s. the others were from the 8’s and 9’s teams. Manchester United had one of our boys too. Keen tennis player Sam Chadwick decided to sign with the united. Thomas Verracchia eventually signed for Oldham Athletic. We wish all our players the very best for the future
This follows on form last years soccer school, 6 players who began playing on a Saturday morning on Mersey Bank have been asked to sign academy contracts with ‘Premier League’ clubs. Troy Tarry signed for Stoke City and Maison Halliday, Brandon Dyer, Felix Chester, Prince Moyo and Corey Edwards (pictured above with Oliver at the soccer school 2 years ago) all signed for Manchester United.
